Summary of Responsibilities:

The St. Louis Cardinals baseball club is seeking candidates for a Baseball Operations Fellowship position to be based out of the Jupiter, FL complex. The Fellowship position runs from early 2018 through December 31, 2018. It is a full-time position eligible for insurance consistent with a typical Cardinals full-time employee. Fellows will be compensated based on an hourly rate of pay competitive with similar entry level positions in baseball. This Fellowship position will be a one-year opportunity and will not return in the same position in 2019. At the end of the Fellowship, the Cardinals and Fellow will jointly determine if there is an appropriate opportunity for full-time employment within the Cardinals.

The main goal of this position is to facilitate the Performance Department activities at the Jupiter complex. The staff member in this position will assist with data collection and reporting in order for the organization to better understand how to optimize the physical development of the players.

Essential Functions of the job:

  • Ensure daily and monthly testing of players at the Florida Complex based upon the testing protocol
  • Create reports of the data collected as outlined by the Departmental Director
  • Assist with other duties as assigned

 Education and Experience Required: 

  • Graduate degree in the area of exercise science and sports medicine
  •  1+ years of experience working in a setting that integrates sports medicine, strength & conditioning environments
  • Experience working in sports medicine and strength and conditioning
  • Experience in reliable and valid data collection

  Education and Experience Preferred: 

  • Additional clinical training at a graduate level which could include ATC or PT
  • Additional academic training in Biomechanics, Physiology, Exercise Science or related field is preferred
  • 3+ years of experience working in a setting that integrates sports medicine, strength & conditioning environments
  • Experience in collection, utilization and integration of biometrics related to biomechanics, training workload, heart rate variability, wellness and exertion among other areas
  • Expertise working in rehabilitation environment with professional athletes including creating and following protocols
  • Expertise working in strength and conditioning with professional athletes including creating and following programs
  • Expertise implementing revisions in training programs using a data driven approach
