Summary of Responsibilities:

The St. Louis Cardinals Baseball Operations Department (Baseball Development) is currently seeking a Software Development Intern for Summer 2019. This position will primarily assist the Baseball Development group with building practical software applications, and providing data analytics/internal application development support for use by Baseball Operations personnel. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: spec and design functionality for new software applications, implementing and testing planned software functionality, assisting existing developers in planning and QA'ing other projects, participating in daily and weekly planning meetings with Baseball Development.

Please note: This posting is for a Summer 2019 Internship, and will remain open to applicants until the job posting end date listed above. 

Essential Functions of the Job

  • Spec and design functionality for software development projects to be used by Baseball Operations personnel
  • Work with other Baseball Development staff to refine applications
  • Implement projects using approved technology
  • Provide regular status updates to Baseball Development and incorporate any feedback
  • Assist in QA and design phases for any other ongoing projects within Baseball Development as needed

Education and Experience Required

  • Current enrollment in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program at a College or University with a degree emphasis in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or other related fields
  • Eligible to receive academic credit
  • Familiarity with a variety of modern programming languages (JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Python, Swift, Java, SQL, etc.)
  • Familiarity with version control systems (Git, SVN, etc.)
  • Familiarity with modern baseball concepts and rules, analytics and trends in the game
  • Self-motivated with a desire to grow development skills
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving skills

Education and Experience Preferred 

  • Current enrollment in an accredited program at a College or University with a minimum Junior level status
  • Past independent development experience outside of required coursework
  • Demonstrable practical experience with software development
  • Strong familiarity with modern baseball concepts and rules, analytics and trends in the game
  • Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (Angular, Vue.js, React, Electron, etc.)
  • Experience with development for mobile platforms (iOS, Android)
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills
