Radio Booth Assistant

Summary of Responsibilities:

The Sales and Marketing Department is looking for qualified candidates to fill the Radio Booth Assistant position for the 2019 St. Louis Cardinals season. This position will assist the Cardinals Radio Announcers and Engineer in the booth for each home game. This position also includes creating scorecards, researching and compiling game data, and general administrative duties for the announcers. The candidate chosen for this position must be available every Home Game for the 2019 season and potentially for the 2020 season.

Essential Functions of the Job:


  • Assist Radio Engineer with setting up radio equipment before the game and following the game either in the booth, KMOX Studio at Busch Stadium or in the dugout
  • Following each home stand, assist engineer with packing gear and transporting radio trunk to equipment truck


  • Create and assist with scorecards for each game from the line-up that is posted in the locker room or received via e-mail from Cardinals PR
  • Provide the data from the last 10 games for each player to announcers
  • Research stats and general information according to the announcer's needs


  • Monitor booth guest traffic and serve as contact person for guests to be interviewed on the air
  • Assist announcers with tickets, deliveries and pick-ups for their guests and family
  • Answering phone calls and take messages when needed
  • Replenish refrigerator daily & provide announcers and engineer with food and beverages when needed
  • Distribute & process fan mail to announcers in a timely fashion 

Education and Experience Required: 

  • Must be currently enrolled in college as a Sophomore or Junior
  • Some Communications or Public Relations experience on a collegiate level
  • High attention to detail with excellent handwriting
  • Confidence to pursue information, overcome obstacles, and provide solutions to radio staff 
  • Excellent communications skills, complemented by diplomacy, empathy, and patience
  • Ability to build rapport and draw information from radio staff
  • Work calmly and effectively under pressure, react quickly, and meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent computer skills to research statistical information online

Education and Experience Preferred:

  • 1-2+ years of experience in Communications or Public Relations from past Internship or College position


  • Available every Home Game for the 2019 season and potentially for the 2020 season. Report to Busch Stadium at least 3 hours before first pitch of every St. Louis Cardinals home game (including possible playoffs and World Series). (Note: Opening day 2019 you will need to report 4 hours before the game).
